Trafford Tourist Information Centre is based in Altrincham. Situated at the heart of the town centre it offers a number of services from it’s location on the first floor in Altrincham Library.

Staffed hours

  • Monday - Friday: 9am - 4pm
  • Saturday: 9am - 1pm

The centre is open for browsing during normal library hours:

  • Monday: 9am - 5pm
  • Tuesday: 9am – 7.30pm
  • Wednesday: 9am - 5pm
  • Thursday: 9am – 7.30pm
  • Friday: 9am – 5pm
  • Saturday: 9am – 4pm

Information and Advice

Visit us during our staffed hours and a member of staff will be happy to help with your enquiry. We also have plenty of information to takeaway or browse in the centre including:

  • A wide selection of leaflets and pamphlets on Trafford, Cheshire and Greater Manchester
  • Accommodation, food and drink and attraction guides
  • Local travel information
  • A range of brochures for destinations across Great Britain
  • Full series of United Kingdom Landranger Maps
  • A selection of A-Z Street Atlases including Greater Manchester and London

We also have souvenirs, books and maps available to purchase.

The tourism unit in Trafford works in partnership with other council services, local tourism businesses, and agencies including Marketing Manchester – the Greater Manchester Tourist Board, and the Regional Development agency to develop the tourism product in the Borough. Increasingly we are working to develop product which is easily recognisable by the consumer and is not constrained by local authority boundaries.

A Local Tourism Association has been set up and anyone involved in tourism is welcome to become involved. As a fledgling initiative there is no charge to join, and you can help shape the future of tourism in Trafford.

The Local Tourism Association is represented on the Local Strategic Partnership through its participation in the Trafford Economic Alliance.

The tourism unit produces a newsletter on an ad-hoc basis which is (e)mailed to a mailing list of around 400 tourism related businesses. The newsletter keeps businesses up to date with tourism related opportunities and news. It's your newsletter and the unit welcomes contributions from Trafford businesses.
