Shopping

Throughout Trafford there are traditional town centres with a good mix of independent retailers, modern shopping malls and traditional markets with something for everyone.

Altrincham a market town since 1290 continues to draw visitors today, in a return to its roots a popular farmers market is now held on the first Friday of every month – to experience the full range of produce get there early! The main shopping streets are Stamford New Road and pedestrianised George Street where as well as a good selection of independent retailers large multiples such as Marks and Spencer, Next, Rackhams, Boots, Woolworths & WH Smiths can be found.

Sale offers stress-free pedestrianised shopping on its tree-lined main road, nearby streets and in the Square with over 200 retail and specialist businesses. Sale has the good fortune to have the Bridgewater Canal running through the centre and the completion of the Waterside project in 2004 has made the area popular for meeting friends for a drink, something to eat or just to watch the world go by.

More than 100 high street names are brought together in the purpose built Stretford Mall which has it’s own on site parking.

Urmston town centre is at the heart of the community, combining friendly, personal service with choice and value. There are a variety of unique, independent outlets and family businesses, some High Street stores and a selection of eateries and services. The traditional outdoor market and food hall attract many visitors on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and a new addition is the farmers market held on the last Friday of each month. A number of popular events throughout the year help to maintain the village atmosphere.

If your preference is for everything under 1 roof then The Trafford Centre is the place for you, with over 280 stores, 36 restaurants and a 20-screen cinema it has literally attracted plane loads of visitors.

Trafford is also home to an intriguing range of specialist shops which are often to be found off the beaten track.

Shop mobility schemes are available in Altrincham, Stretford and at The Trafford Centre.
