Old Trafford, Trafford Park and Quays Trail
Did you know that Lancashire County Cricket Club started off life as The Aurora
Club over the ship canal in Salford, or that on the site of White City Retail
Park there once stood magnificent Botanical Gardens, what is The Manchester
Madonna? These and a myriad of other nuggets of fascinating history are included
in this new trail which is
available here as a free MP3 download.
The Old Trafford, Trafford Park & Quays Trail was written by well known local
writer and blue badge guide Jonathan Schofield and produced by professional
walking tour company Tourist Tracks on behalf of Trafford Council. The trail is
a celebration of the rich history of an area well know the world over for
football and cricket but which has another story to tell from rolling country
estate to industrial powerhouse.
The trail could take anything from an hour and a half upwards depending how long
you linger at the audio points or attractions on route, or if you take time out
for something to eat and drink.
For those who aren’t already MP3 enabled a pre loaded MP3 player can be hired
