Countryside, Walks, Tours & Trails

Dunham

Two rivers run through Trafford. The Mersey was the ancient boundary between the Saxon kingdoms of Mercia and Northumbria; whilst the Bollin a tributary of the Mersey flows east to west across the south of the Borough through Hale & Dunham. Both rivers offer walking and picnicking opportunities along their banks. You can walk, cycle or horse ride on The Trans Pennine Trail in Trafford which forms part of European Long Distance Footpath E8 crossing England from Southport to Hornsea.
