Parks & Gardens
Whether you are a keen gardener looking for inspiration or a family in search of a great free day out we are sure you will find somewhere to delight you. Use Trafford as a base to explore the many delightful gardens of adjoining Cheshire and Trafford’s own Dunham Massey. Dunham Massey is a National Trust property and one of the North West's great plantsmans' gardens, its new 7 acre winter garden is now open with colour provided by 700 different plant species and 1600 shrubs chosen for their winter bark, flower, fruit, autumn colour or scent . Walkden Gardens is Trafford’s best municipal garden – open all year round and free entry too.
Trafford's numerous garden centres and nurseries are a reminder that the area was once renowned for its thriving market gardens, you can find more details of these and about a business specialising in garden antiques by checking out our shopping section.
Several gardens in the area are opened for Charity. Details may be found nearer the time on our own events web site but also check out the following locations: www.redcross.org.uk, The National Garden Scheme for Cheshire and The Wirral ; Lancashire & Greater Manchester at www.ngs.org.uk.
