Specatator Sport

Manchester Phoenix

Trafford is a sporting mecca – home to the two world famous Old Trafford Stadiums belonging to Manchester United and Lancashire County Cricket – in fact so famous not much more needs to be said really except that with football and cricket you can watch sport all year round. Less well known but equally important to their supporters are Altrincham Football Club, the Robins have been around since 1891 and now play in the Blue Square premier League and can claim Ricky Ponting as one of their shareholders! You can also spot stars of the future as the ground is also used by Manchester United for their second XI fixtures.

If you like fast paced action, thrills and spills, Altrincham Ice Dome is home to ice hockey club Manchester Phoenix who play in the English Premier League.

Cricket is not Trafford’s only summer or Test Match sport, Bowdon Croquet Club's roots go back to 1873 and has been on its current site since 1911 only interrupted by the two world wars, Bowdon hosts several Croquet Association tournaments each year and in 2010 will be hosting the MacRobertson International test march v USA, spectators are welcome at all these events.
