Pubs & Café Bars
Whether you want to sample hand drawn ale in a traditional British Pub, or sip champagne in contemporary chic surroundings you will find somewhere in Trafford. To give you a few ideas we asked some locals about their favourite haunts.
Big Tree Bitter & Deer Beer are 2 of the local beers brewed by local micro brewery Dunham Massey Brewing Company. To sample one in a traditional English pub try The Saracens Head (Warburton) who regularly host guest beers and great for families or The Steamhouse in Urmston which retains the character of the station buildings it has been converted from.
For traditional pubs with a modern makeover try H Nicholsons (Altrincham), The Bulls Head (Hale Barns), The Hare & Hounds or The Moss Trooper (both Timperley). For some alternative atmosphere try The Orange Tree (Altrincham) or The Railway (Hale) where there have been ghostly goings on. Le Trappiste (Altrincham) is a haven for Belgian Beer enthusiasts and regularly host special tasting evenings and hosts the Altrincham beer and cask ask festival on August bank Holiday Weekend. The Kings Ransom sits on the banks of the Bridgewater Canal in Sale Town centre, wander out onto the pontoon with your drink and watch the narrow boats putter past.
For fab food there is only one truly gastro pub in Trafford – The Victoria in Altrincham. Whilst one of the liveliest venues is Bar Amp in Sale with gigs every Thursday, although we’ve heard that the The Bull’s Head and Brooklands Tap are now snapping at its heals. If you want to continue the party on to Sunday morning we’ve heard One Six One in Hale is the place to be until 2pm.
